    A white cinco de mayo
    blog :: bozeman

    I've thought about a white Christmas, but never a white cinco de mayo... but that's what happened. I almost broke out into jingle bells when I work up on monday morning to see a blanket of snow in our backyard. But I should have known this would happen... it was my first day in Bozeman with my car, so of course it would snow.

    So yes, the move to Bozeman continues to make us laugh, smile, and shiver because it's still snowing here. All is well... we're (and I use the "we" part loosely because it's mainly Mystique) still working on the house, ripping out carpet, painting walls, and trying to find room for all the stuff we have. Next time we move everything in the house conveys... we'll start all new. Except Tivo.

    So far we've pretty much finished the TV room... I might start calling that the media center, just because it sounds cool. We replaced the carpet with pergo-like flooring, painted the walls a cool green, and replaced the baseboards with some 6" baseboards painted bright white. Overall it's a great room with our blue leather furniture accented by a 65" widescreen TV. It all blends nicely... at least that's what I keep telling Mystique.

    We've also pretty much finished up the office, as well... Mystique has painted (and re-painted) the walls and ceiling, ripped up the nasty carpet (which we think was the original 1987 stuff), and replaced it with a piece of thin carpet she got from Home Depot for $80. We just finished that last night and I think it looks great... now we can finally move stuff into the office and clear out the guest bedroom so we can get that cleaned up.

    We've added another cool restaurant to our list for visitors to the area... a place called Sourdough Creek Cafe. We had lunch there yesterday and it just seemed like a neat little place... their dinner menu had some nice items, and a nice bar area to boot.

    This past weekend I drove the Honda up from Phoenix (only in town long in enough to have lunch with the folks) and I really enjoyed the drive from Idaho Falls to Bozeman. When we first came up we went through Butte and didn't take the more scenic drive that goes through west yellowstone. We missed out on that trip, but we've each taken the other way, now, and it is a beautiful drive. It definitely made up for all the boring parts in Utah, Idaho, and Arizona.

    Anyhow, that's the excitement in Bozeman... still enjoying every minute of it. The dogs absolutely love it here and are even getting along fairly well with all of our neighbor dogs. Buster's been doing surprisingly well which is great because we were worried the most about him. He doesn't necessarily like all of our neighbor dogs, but he usually just stares at them now -- the fence-fighting and turf-wars have decreased since we first moved in.

    More later!
