    Hope everyone's enjoying 2005 as much as I am... if you haven't heard, Mystique and I recently added to our family, so I've been a little busy lately. Fear not fans... haslup.com will live on.

    In non-kids news... DirecTV made a bunch of announcements today about upcoming plans for 2005, including local HD channels for 12 markets (oddly, Bozeman is not one of them), as well as some new set-top boxes supporting high definition DVR functions, plus a home media option similar to Tivo's. Being a fan of Tivo, I'm a little bummed that DirecTV's ditching them, but I really don't have much of a choice since all my HD comes from DirecTV.

    Speaking of HD, ABC, NBC, and FOX are now on DirecTV in HD, and ESPN2HD is being added today. Only because of the announcements today I'm not going out to buy an HD-enabled Tivo... it sounds like it'll have to be replaced in a year or so. Plus, $850 is a lot for an HD Tivo... now, if it comes down to $500 or so, then I might get one.

    In computer news... my parents were kind enough to get us an iMac for Christmas (the better-looking model (IMHO), not the pizza-box one). It's been fun... it'll be a great "kitchen computer" so I can watch TV and play DVDs while I cook. Or someone else cooks. I've been using iMovie on it and it's been pretty simple to make movies of the kids.

    In window-manager related news... I've settled on sawfish (finally) on all my stems in the past month or so... I finally figured out how to do the prefix-key that I've always wanted, and now sawfish is working out great. It's fun to configure, really flexible, and just fine speed-wise, even at work on my under-powered linux box.
